Nate Nelson and Brian Sullivan have continuously thrilled those fortunate enough to follow their exploits as Mouthus over the last several years. In their "official" releases on labels such as Ecstatic Peace! and Load through their more exploratory self-released missives, the duo's powerful fuzz guitar and distorto drum blasts have ignited everything that dares to stand in their path. For The Great Slave Lakes marks one of the high water marks within the band's storied discography. Tracks such as "Crosses Shape" and "Your Land As A Nation" showcase the core Mouthus sound through drones and wails. The rattle and squall of the disc's first half sets the tone for the massive mind-expansion which is the concluding forty-two minute exploration titled "Compound My Eyes." Inspiration has never sounded so beautiful.
